Code of Tradition

Under the association, the Preemio Tradition Council operates. The purpose and task of the Tradition Council is to preserve the traditions of business students in Kuopio and ensure the continuity of the association's activities.

The tasks of the Tradition Council are carried out by the current board chairperson together with the chairpersons of previous boards who are still studying. The tasks of the Tradition Council can also be entrusted to 1–6 other current or former members who have made significant contributions to the association's activities. The invitation of these members is the responsibility of the current board chairperson and the chairpersons of previous boards, decided unanimously.

The individuals appointed to carry out the tasks of the Tradition Council meet as often as they deem necessary during the academic term and, if needed, at the request of the current board chairperson. The term of the Tradition Council is the calendar year.

The Tradition Council elects a chairperson and a secretary from among its members, and the secretary is responsible for keeping the minutes of the Tradition Council meetings. The Tradition Council organizes itself after the autumn meeting and before the end of the year, upon the invitation of the current chairperson.

Preemio's Board and Member ribbon

5§ Preemio ry has board and organizational ribbons, which are worn at academic ceremonies and when representing the association. It is the responsibility of the association's board to inform about the proper use of these ribbons.

The organizational ribbon is 20 mm wide and symmetrical along the center line. The background color of the ribbon is burgundy, and it has two yellow stripes, each 2 mm wide, located 2 mm from the edge of the ribbon.

The board ribbon is 30 mm wide and symmetrical along the center line. The background color of the ribbon is burgundy, and it has two yellow stripes, each 4 mm wide, located 4 mm from the edge of the ribbon.

Every current and former member of Preemio ry has the right to wear the organizational ribbon, and every current and former member of the board of Preemio ry has the right to wear the board ribbon. Only one ribbon may be worn at a time. The right to wear the ribbon remains after leaving the association.

When wearing the organizational ribbon, the rest of the attire should be appropriate for the occasion and the value of the ribbon. Men wear the ribbon over the right shoulder, crossing the chest and ending at the left hip. The ribbon is worn under the vest in formal attire (tuxedo) and over the vest and tie in everyday attire. Women wear the ribbon folded into a rosette on the left side of the chest or so that the ribbon crosses from the left shoulder to the left hip. However, the ribbon should not touch bare skin.

Preemio ry's awards and recognitions granted to its members

Preemio ry has three different merit badges: gold, silver, and bronze. The badge is a round medal depicting the pattern at the center of Preemio ry's logo. The medal may be awarded to a former or current member of the association in recognition of their work for the benefit of the association. Merit badges can be awarded annually at the association's anniversary celebration.

10§ The merit badges are presented by the chairman of the association's board. Along with the merit badge, the recipient is also given a certificate of honor, outlining the reasons for the award. The board keeps a record of the recipients, the dates of awarding, and the reasons for the awards.

11§ A person may receive multiple merit badges within the same year.

12§ The bronze merit badge can be awarded to a member who has actively participated in Preemio's activities and contributed to the association's success or maintained its good spirit. The bronze merit badge may be awarded to a member of the association’s board or the student union council, or to another member who has participated in the association's activities.

13§ Up to six bronze merit badges can be awarded annually, but in exceptional cases, up to ten may be given. The decision to award bronze merit badges is made by the board of the association based on a proposal from the Tradition Council, except for members of the Tradition Council, for whom the board makes the decision.

14§ The silver merit badge can be awarded for significant contributions to the association. The recipient of the silver merit badge must meet the criteria for the bronze merit badge. The silver merit badge may be awarded to, for example, a chairperson of the association or a member of the student union board who has made significant contributions during their term.

15§ Up to three silver merit badges can be awarded annually, but in exceptional cases, up to five may be given. The decision to award silver merit badges is made by the board of the association based on a proposal from the Tradition Council, except for members of the Tradition Council, for whom the board makes the decision.

16§ The gold merit badge can be awarded for exceptional contributions to the association. The recipient of the gold merit badge must meet the criteria for both the bronze and silver merit badges. The gold merit badge may be awarded, for example, for long-term work within the association or for distinguished representation of the association in the student union, university positions of trust, or Suomen Ekonomeissa (Finnish Economists).

17§ One gold merit badge can be awarded annually, but in exceptional cases, up to two may be given. The decision to award gold merit badges is made jointly by the association's board and the Tradition Council.

18§ In addition to merit badges, the association may award an active member badge as an independent form of recognition. This badge can be awarded to a member who has actively participated in the association's activities and helped maintain its good spirit. The active member badge is silver in color, 20 mm in diameter, and shaped like the central pattern of Preemio ry's logo with rounded edges. The active member badge is worn on the left side of the chest, below the women's ribbon. It is not worn together with merit badges.

Preemio ry's Board Pin

19§ The board badge is a gold-plated badge, 30 mm in diameter, shaped like the central pattern of Preemio ry's logo. The board badge may be worn by all individuals who have served on the association's board. Current board members wear the board badge with their formal attire along with the board ribbon, and in other events, it is worn on the left side of the chest. Former board members wear the board badge on the left side of the chest, above the women's ribbon.

Awards and recognitions granted by Preemio ry to external parties

20§ Preemio ry may recognize its partners or individuals who are not eligible for the merit badges designated for former or current members. There are two forms of recognition: Preemio ry’s table standard and an honorary gift.

21§ Preemio ry’s table standard may be awarded to an organization or individual with whom the association has had a long-term collaboration. The standard may also be presented to a former or current member of the association, but their recognition should primarily be limited to merit badges. The decision to award the table standard is made by the board of the association. Table standards are primarily presented at the association’s annual celebration but may also be awarded, for example, during a visit to the recipient.

22§ Preemio ry’s general meeting may award an honorary gift to an organization or individual with whom the association has engaged in collaboration that has significantly benefited the association and its members. An honorary gift may also be presented to a former or current member of the association, but their recognition should primarily be limited to merit badges.

This regulation was approved in a board meeting on December 11, 2018.
